Beautiful Sweden

It’s funny looking through all my photos from our holiday as I have nearly forgotten some of it! After leaving London we spent a couple of days in Stockholm before heading south to visit Kolmarden Zoo, Scandinavia’s largest wildlife park. We stayed at the Vildmarkshotellet and had two sunny days in the park. Kolmarden is a really nice place surrounded by forest and beautiful countryside so it was really great to spend some time there. The Swedish nature, the forest in particular is something I miss a lot when living in Perth, it’s not quite the same lush greenery here, plus you got to watch out for snakes and spiders..

The last couple of weeks were pretty busy and it was so much fun catching up with friends and family over and over again! My dear friends Dan and Linda whom got engaged on a plane to NYC in May decided to get married during my stay in Sweden which I really appreciated! Their wedding was beautiful and so much fun – thanks guys! Can’t wait to see you in Perth next year!

The day after the wedding myself and the kids caught the train to Gothenburg three hours south of Stockholm to visit Maria, Shawn, Noah and little Vera. It was full on with four kids + parents in a small apartment but the weather was pretty good and we had lots of fun!

Another highlight was a Pearl Jam concert – thank you Michaela! They rocked the house out and it was awesome!

And finally some photos from a beautiful island called Fjaderholmarna situated in the archipelago about 20min with ferry from Stockholm city. My auntie Maria works in the pottery on the island so it’s always nice to go and visit her. On Maria’s birthday my grandma and I surprised her just before she got on the ferry to go to work! We then ended up coming with her to the island to celebrate with coffee and my grandma’s home-made rhubarb pie… yum!

Looking at these photos makes wanna go back and see everyone again! Shame it’s such a long way.. Thanks to all my friends and family for making our holiday such a great memory, can’t wait to next to next time! :)

I finish off with a pic taken of Cayla in Tyresta National Park that I absolutely love.

Hello Again!

Well Hello Again! It’s been a while since I wrote anything but we have just spent seven weeks in my country of origin Sweden, with a short trip to London as well. We have had a fabulous time and it was awesome catching up with friends and family and indulging in my favourite Swedish food! We arrived in Sweden end of May and I am not kidding when I say that it was +4 degrees and rain in Stockholm… It’s meant to be Summer.. We had to buy warmer jackets for the kids and layer up with the clothes we have brought with us. But it’s ok, we get plenty of sunshine in Perth anyway.

Ready to board the plane to Sweden!

After about a week in Stockholm we caught Norwegian Air to London and I absolutely loved being back there again. The weather was wet and cold most days but we still had a great time visiting the sights of London and catching up with friends. We stayed with my friend Malin in Highgate and it was fun for Nathan to meet up with his ‘old’ little buddies again. One of the highlights was definitely when we spent nearly seven hours in a pub with our dear friends Mark and Sylvia. Mark works at London Zoo so Nathan and Cayla were lucky enough to give the giraffes a little snack before we headed towards the pub! The kids were so well-behaved and we all joined in playing play doh!  Nathan’s favourite was definitely legoland! We spent two days in the park and stayed one night in the newly built resort which was a great experience! I really wish we could have stayed longer in England as ten days proved not to be enough but I suppose there is always a next time. Big hugs to all my friends in London, it was great seeing your happy smiles again! :)

Back in Sweden we had a couple of really busy weeks before hubby headed back to Australia and myself and the kids stayed on another three weeks but I will tell you more about that soon! :)

I miss my family and friends in Sweden a lot but it is really nice being back in Perth again and I think everyone has settled back to our normal routine which is great! Kids behave so much better when they know what their day is going to be like. But unfortunately for Nathan this means no more Lego pressies from everyone and no more ice creams x 2 on a daily basis…! It took us all a good week to get over the jet lag this time.. sucks to wake up at 2am…
We have already had a return visit to the pediatric dentist for Cayla’s front tooth and it all looks alright. The tooth has gone a bit grey but no damage anywhere else and hopefully the tooth will stay in her mouth until she’s a little bit older and ready for her big girl’s teeth. Cayla has also had two appointments for speech and one appointment at the eye clinic at PMH. Her speech is improving slowly and she is saying quite a few new words now though the clarity is still a bit so and so.

We have got funding for a Vantage Lite and will pick it up from TCCP next week! The eye check went well and she has no problems with her eyes so nice to check that one off the list. Cayla has managed to catch a massive cold and have a very husky voice at the moment but other than that all good and great to be back at home! :)

Bali

We have been on a holiday to Bali! It was great to get away from our normal routines and all the doctor’s appointments but it wasn’t as relaxing as one would have wished for…. The kids that are usually pretty good were not very well-behaved at all! They decided to refuse all food except chips and the odd slize of pizza… The hotel was nice, great rooms, restaurants and a big water slide by the pool area which was of course the kids favourite. Waterbom Park was a big hit with all of us and we ended up spending two days there, even Cayla went down the bigger slides. We had a nice time but it was great to come back home again.
